- Hobbies: In my free time, I enjoy painting, spending time outdoors, and exploring new cultures through travel. These experiences keep me grounded, creative, and open to growth beyond medicine.
- Future Career Plan: Looking ahead, I’m committed to serving a community where I can make a meaningful impact. I believe that strong relationships, cultural humility, and continued learning are essential to providing excellent patient care. As I grow in my career, I hope to contribute to a team that values collaboration, connection, and the power of showing up wholeheartedly for those we serve.

- Hobbies: Computers, tech, guitar.

Kelly Hopkins, M.D.
- Medical School: St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada
- Hobbies: Watching/attending sporting events, listening to music/going to concerts, Pilates, running, sailing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family/friends.
- Future Career Plan: I’m interested in working with underserved communities with a focus on patient advocacy and community outreach, emphasizing preventive medicine and increasing primary care access. My goal is quality, patient-centered care, while creating meaningful, long-lasting physician-patient relationships.
Syeda Kazmi M.B.B.S.
- Medical School: Dow Medical College, Pakistan
- Hobbies: Trail exploring, trying out new food spots, and getting the hang of pickleball (while still working on my tennis game!).
- Future Career Plans: I’m passionate about primary care and look forward to serving the local community, getting to know families, watching kids grow up, and being a familiar face in their healthcare journey.
Nam Lai, M.D.
- Medical School: St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada
- Hobbies: I grew up in a rural area, where gardening with my grandmother sparked a lasting love for it. I unwind by sketching abstract and landscape art with ink. I enjoy reading fiction and fantasy for their imaginative worlds and unique perspectives. Socially, I love karaoke—even if my singing is better in the shower—and I’m always up for board games, mostly to enjoy time with friends.
- Future Career Plan: I’m considering a geriatric fellowship after residency to address the growing need for specialized care in our aging population. Older adults often face complex health issues, yet there’s a shortage of geriatricians to meet these needs. I aim to provide comprehensive, long-term care that eases the emotional burden on patients and families, fostering partnerships where patients feel heard, cared for, and empowered to advocate for their health.
Muhammad Rahman, M.B.B.S
- Medical School: Shifa College of Medicine, Pakistan
- Hobbies: In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, woodworking—driven by my passion for creating—hunting, and spending quality time with my family. I’m also a car and motorcycle enthusiast and love taking road trips whenever I get the chance.
- Future Career Plan: I am open to exploring all opportunities during my residency, but I am particularly drawn to Emergency Medicine and Hospitalist roles as potential paths for my future practice.
Faiza Arlsan, M.D.
- Medical School: Rawalpindi Medical College, Rawalpindi Pakistan.
- Hobbies: In my free time, I love to spend time and do activities with my family, especially cooking and traveling. I also enjoy shopping, reading, working out, and spending time by myself.
- Future Career Plan: I am enthusiastic about future opportunities and the diverse potential that Family Medicine has to offer. Currently, I am dedicated to working as a primary physician with a primary emphasis on women’s health and chronic care management. Additionally, I contemplating the pursuit of a fellowship in pain medicine to further enhance my expertise and broaden my scope of practice.
Jonathan De La Torre, M.D.

- Hobbies: Cooking, foodie, watching movies, travelling, going to the beach, riding a bike, and road trips.
- Future Career Plans: To have my own private practice in Family Medicine - Primary Care.
Aya Mohamed, M.D.
- Medical School: Al-Azhar University Faculty of Medicine for Girls in Cairo, Egypt.
- Hobbies: I love to spend my free time reading and cooking. I also like spending time on the beach.
- Future career plan: I am open to figuring out all options during residency.
Shayne Paff, M.D.
- Medical School: Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara (UAG), Mexico.
- Hobbies: Outside of medicine, I indulge in gardening, baking, scrapbooking, good food, and making a house feel a home. I enjoy spending time with my sons and husband, playing all sorts of sports and board games and watching family-relevant movies.
- Future Career Plans: Work in a setting where I can put my feet in both Clinical Medicine and Public Health as a Health Officer. I also dream of starting up a new FM training program in rural/suburban communities, manage an assisted living facility where children and youth regularly visit the elderly residents and engage in meaningful activities/conversations, and own a bakery/cafe that is situated in the middle of an outdoor wellness center.
Saba Ali, M.D.
- Medical School: Dow International Medical College, Pakistan
- Hobbies: I love making use of whatever ingredients I have on hand and turning them into something healthy to eat for my family and me. I also love listening to podcasts, hiking, biking, road trips, and exploring new coffee shops. I used to teach oil painting and hope to get back into that in the future.
- Future Career Plans: I am very open to all that family medicine has to offer. As of now, I am especially interested in functional or integrative medicine, urgent care, and procedures.
Toni Encinares, M.D.
- Medical School: University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Philippines
- Hobbies: I enjoy photography, arts, traveling, and cooking. In my free time, I like to read graphic novels and manga, play video games, and practice martial arts.
- Future Career Plans: I find the prospect of providing comprehensive and continuous care to patients in a primary care setting fascinating. Similarly, the fast-paced nature of urgent care also appeals to me. However, I am open to exploring other specialties as I continue to learn and gain experience.
Priscilla Goh, M.D.
- Medical School: St George’s University, Grenada
- Hobbies: Outside of medicine, I enjoy Pilates, hiking, racquet sports, exploring local art/farmers markets, traveling to experience different cultures/foods, and spending quality time with family and friends. Such a warm and thriving community… and it's a thrill for my husband and me to have moved to El Paso where we can hike the Franklin Mountains in our free time!
- Future Career Plans: My priority as a family medicine physician is to be welcoming to people from all lifestyles. In doing so, I hope to make healthcare more efficient, equitable, and accessible to all. While my interests in family medicine are broad and evolving, I have a particular passion for underserved communities and a growing interest in preventative medicine and outpatient procedural skills. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and care for the El Paso community with the Texas Tech Health El Paso Transmountain team.
Hellen Mutumba, M.D.
- Medical School: Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Uganda
- Hobbies: I find immense joy in cherishing quality moments with my family, and engaging in activities such as baking and swimming. Additionally, I derive great pleasure from watching basketball games and talent-based television shows, such as at the captivating America’s Got Talent.
- Future Career Plans: I maintain an open-minded approach and am currently dedicated to furthering my knowledge and enhancing my skills as a physician. I eagerly anticipate the opportunities and discoveries that the future holds for me
Abishek Panjwani , M.D.
- Medical School: Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, Dublin Ireland.
- Hobbies: Canoeing, hiking, camping, basketball, American football, gaming, and reading/collecting manga.
- Future Career Plans: I have an open mind, but right now I am really interested in sports medicine. I am an avid sports fan who follows the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NCAA football. This initially drew me to the specialty. However, I also share interests in pain and addiction medicine. I had some rewarding experiences working with these patients while completing my outpatient clinical rotations at RCSI. Family medicine has so many opportunities, so we will see what the future holds!
