Dr. Diaz trained abroad as Nuclear Medicine physician in 2001 and completed training in Diagnostic Radiology and Body Imaging fellowship here at Texas Tech.
He is board-certified with the American Board of Radiology since 2012.
He has provided Emergency Radiology services since 2013.
He currently is the Radiation Safety Officer for UMC and chairs the Radiation Safety Committee and serves as a member in the Patient Safety Council.
He serves as Vice-Chair in the Credentials Committee and also serves as Vice-Chair in the Institutional Review Board for Texas Tech.
He is the program director for the Diagnostic Radiology residency here at Texas Tech.
His research focus is in gastric emptying with radionuclide techniques.
His interests are in gastric emptying, DaTscan in movement disorders, MRI liver iron quantification, current and emerging radionuclide therapies.
He has been involved with the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging in developing appropriate use criteria in gastrointestinal transit.
He served in the American Board of Radiology in the Nuclear Radiology Committee from 2018-2024.
He is a trustee with the Southwestern Chapter of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
He is a Senior Editor with the American College of Radiology RadExam for the Nuclear Radiology Committee.
He is involved with the El Paso Public Health Department as advisor for radiation disaster preparedness.
He participates jointly with Emergency Medicine in the simulation of contrast material reactions and radiation disaster.
